🥜JIF® & J.M. Smucker Company Jif peanut butter salmonella contamination class action lawsuit

JIF® PEANUT BUTTER is facing a national recall after multiple people from 12 states across America, were infected with Salmonella.

As a result, the J.M. Smucker Co. is recalling many of its Jif peanut butter products produced at a plant in Lexington, Kentucky, for possible contamination, according to the FDA. The recall impacts Jif's creamy, crunchy and natural peanut butters, both in jar and to-go form, as well as other products.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW [DIRECTLY FROM THE CDC WEBSITE]

• Four of five (80%) sick people reported eating different types of Jif brand peanut butter before getting sick

• It involves Jif sold at stores nationwide.

• Many types and sizes were recalled, including creamy, crunchy, natural, and reduced fat.

• Look at the lot code numbers 1274 425 through 2140 425, with “425” at the end of the first 7 numbers, located on the back of the product.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Do not eat any recalled Jif brand peanut butter.

• This product has a very long shelf life, so be sure to check any Jif peanut butter you have at home to make sure it has not been recalled.

• Wash surfaces and containers that may have touched the recalled peanut butter using hot, soapy water.

• Call your healthcare provider if you have one or more of these symptoms after eating recalled peanut butter:

• Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F

• Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving

• Bloody diarrhea

• So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down

• Signs of dehydration, such as:

• Infrequent urination

• Dry mouth and throat

• Feeling dizzy when standing up

The lawyers continued their fight on behalf of clients who purchased JIF® & J.M. Smucker Company products from the contaminated Lexington, KY facility.

This isn't the first peanut butter recall this year. In March, Skippy Foods LLC recalled 9,353 cases, or 161,692 total pounds, of select peanut butter products because they could contain small stainless steel fragments.
